Unusually Bright Screen

So I bought this phone when it first came out and for the most part love it so far. Unfortunately the grill on my ear piece fell out and I requested an exchange. Right before I was going to send back my return I had both phones side by side and noticed that my original Essential phone screen it ridiculously bright compared to the replacement they sent. I also compared it to my old phone (S7 Edge) and it's brighter than even that phone. I'm curious if I got lucky and got an Essential Phone that is unusually bright. Take a look at the pics and let me know. I don't wanna send it back if did. I know the brightness is one of the issues people have with this phone so I'm thinking this might be a rarity. The first 2 pics are of the Essential Phones and the second 2 are of each Essential Phone next to my old S7 Edge.

Is adaptive brightness turned on with one but not the other? Not sure why there would be that large of a difference. Both of my current phones match the brightness of the one I bought at launch.

As said above check to see if adaptive brightness is turned on for both devices.

Yep, turning off the adaptive brightness makes the screen eye piercingly bright...

The adaptive brightness was on. After turning it off the screen got brighter for sure but it still not as bright as my original. Also the power button on the replacement doesn't protrude as much as my original which actually is bothering me quite a bit. They are sending me another replacement. For as much flack as the customer service has gotten they have been nothing but great for me. Thanks everyone for your help!

Another thing I find interesting since I've been looking at brightness of this phone's screen is how it stacks up to my old S7 Edge. I swear the S7 Edge is rated to have more nits of brightness but I swear the Essential Phone is brighter and it's one thing that just about everyone one that's reviewed the phone has complained about. Maybe my S7 Edge had a defective screen too, hahaha!

I got an essential phone yesterday... been very impressed with it so far. One thing I couldn't help but notice is that my screen is brighter than the sun itself! My god, the brightness slider is almost all the way turned down just to be able to save myself from burning out my retinas! This will come in handy outdoors, but at night it's almost annoying because I can't adjust it down to where I need to. lol
