Update for Sideloding: Anyone got it yet?

Nevermind my previous post. There's just a few steps missing from the instructions. You also have to clear data from Customization Setup and Settings Setup. But that did the trick.

Also, I had to reboot the phone afterwards to get sideloading to work, but I just downloading the Amazon Appstore, so thanks so much for posting that!

I, for one, am shocked! Shocked, I say! That AT&T could be letting us twist in the wind like this.

Tuckerfan: Try the above. I think maybe the OTA thing has already gone through, but we have to change our settings and clear data to get our phones to use it. I'm now playing some of the free games from the Amazon app store, so it definitely works!

Some inspire users were having trouble with mms. Im not but might wana be aware of that

Well, this Aria user is having trouble with MMS. Rebooting the phone doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. So, I guess that means I'm going to have to wipe the phone out and start all over again. This is utter garbage. One shouldn't have to do that at all.

Well, I've managed to get MMS back, but I lost the "Download for Other Sources" option. AT&T can fornicate themselves with a large iron stick.

Dang. Sorry to hear man. Maybe now u can try having them push it to ur phone?

I think I'm just going to dump this phone for the iPhone 5 when it comes out. I'm tired of this crap.

OK. Just got off the computer with AT&T Tech Support via chat. Tech Support was very helpful and knew exactly what I was talking about (I think). I had to give them the IMEI number off my phone and they said they had to "add my mobile to the update platform" then I had to contact them again in 48 hours to request the update.

This sounds like a cumbersome way to go about it, and that isn't how the Inspire folks got their update, but at least it is a step in the right direction.

So, all you folks that haven't gotten your update, contact AT&T Tech Support.

UPDATE:

As outlined in the previous post, I contacted Tech Support and requested they push the update to my phone. They entered it into their system, then said it could take 48-72 hours to push to the phone.

Man, this is a cumbersome process!

Additionally, this request was made Thursday night and still no update. Not sure if the holidays are interfering with the update window or not, but we are right at if not over the time frame for this push.

the update is still there. i think for those with stock 2.2 we can just wait for alpharev to come out with the nonbeta version of s-off so we dont have to worry about this 3rd party apps crap

I still hadn't received the update, so I contacted AT&T again and this was there response:

I have the information that this is still being worked. At this time we do not have a estimated time of completion. Once the updates have been completed, you will receive a text message advising of the completion. We apologize for the delay in resolving the update.

Great deal. Clearing the cache, it was so easy. Guess it's standard for AT&T to make it as frustrating as they can. This should be shouted from the roof tops. At least they started to give up some freedom. I swear, it was becoming a toss up between Apple I-Tunes, AT&T and Big Brother with the thought police.
