I just moved from iphone to the Samsung GS3 -

I am setting stuff up and I can't find where to setup shortcuts like i had on my iphone -- for example I had my iphone set up that when I typed in mgd it would then complete my email address without me typing it in. I had several of these shortcuts setup for things I typed a lot. Really handy feature and I can't find where or how to replicate on this device.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just found out how to do it - when you go into Language and Input, then go to the Samsung keyboard settings - then click on the Predictive Text section... In there, you can scroll all the way to the bottom and there is a section called "Auto substitution" - there you will see a list of current substitutions and you can also add shortcuts of your own.

Nice find, I never knew that. I use SwiftKey. I guess I need to check the settings to see if it has that option. I miss it from my BlackBerry BOLD 9900...

No problem. U have to disable swift key. They don't offer it that I can find. Its only on Samsung input keyboard prope. es.

Key Shortcuts - Text Completion??

Soo i've been searching and reading about shortcuts.. i can't find the " auto substitutions " can anyone help me?

Actually, despite the fact that I 'thanked' the person that posted that information, I can't find that option anywhere in the Samsung keyboard settings. Who knows, perhaps that feature is blocked on Verizon phones.
