So I just got my Nexus 7 WiFi (2013) back from Asus service, and it powers up with 5.1.1 (Build number LMY48G). I'm wondering if it's safe and advisable to go through any updates that are prompted, whether the latest build - 6.0.1 (MOB30X) - is all beneficial or has any drawbacks.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I would certainly recommend it. If for no other reason, you'll get the latest (as of the last official update for the N7) security updates.

Note that Google has stopped official updates for the N7 2013. However, there remains active development for this device over at XDA.

Went ahead and rolled through the updates (took 2 OS updates, then 3 security patches). All is good, though it seems WiFi is a bit finicky - it likes some networks better than others. Overall, pleased.
