After I set up my phone when I went into settings I saw that it had an update and it asked me to restart the phone which I did.

I don't know exactly what the update did but it's still on the September update like it's supposed to be.

Anyone else had this experience?

Mine had an update as well during initial setup, no clue either what it did. Also still on September security update, which I think we will be on until November if like last year.

Hmmm, interesting. Wonder why it wouldn't be on the October update?

They are made before that and instead of them rushing to program the update they just wait until next and do them all -- or at least that is what they did last year.

Correct....it did mention some kind of fixes but nothing specific. Could be they addressed some things from the review units but just speculation on my part.

I had no updates on mine - still on Sept. security patch level - found this on the OTA page - same build # I have

It did a update when I turned the phone on.
Sitting in the car it said it needed to be restarted to finish
I was trying to sync it with my Hyundai.
Didn't pay attention to what it did.

Same, and I did not pay enough attention to see what exactly was involved. It was very quick, so could not have been too much.

No update here on my unlocked purchased from Fi.. I am on Sept security patch..

Everyone is on September security patch and that's the latest available for Pixel 3 even after the update during initial setup.
From November onwards we will get monthly security patches.

I think everyone gets that. But some are apparently getting an update, could be a day 1 big fix, possibly tied to the carrier they're using. But if it is a big fix for all, we should make sure so we can try to get it.

This.

Yes even I got the update during my initial setup. I thought everyone got that didn't know only some of us are getting it. You won't notice since it didn't even prompt me, during the setup process it started updating automatically.
