Recent history (see US carrier S7s vs. US unlocked S7s) shows us that carrier versions can get updates faster.

Only unlocked phones that get fast updates in a timely manner are iPhones and Pixels. Samsung has been horrible keeping their unlocked devices up to date

For Samsung, you should be grateful that they give you updates eventually. Every update is provided at their mercy. You are not entitled to them.

Ummm.. There is a question from a rightly concerned customer with no responce from Samsung. This reinforces my point to that they have abandoned us, can't even be bothered replying.

Well lately my phone has been slowing down. My hope is that it's not the new theme that I'm using but there sure has been a number of app updates. Hopefully the next update will clear this up. Still like the experience of this phone.

I don't care much about new OS updates, but do want the latest security updates.
