Okay, I bought an unlocked Note 10+ new at Best Buy. Activated it on T-Mobile two weeks ago. It had a system update that same day to Oct. 1, 2019. Now I'm reading about the fingerprint update and I have not been notified for one and when I try to manually update it I get that the system is up to date.

My question is, being unlocked, who notifies me and will I miss out on updates such as the upgrade to 10? As per the fingerprint scanner, I think it sucks as does the trusted place unlock. Thanks for any and all help, I truly appreciate it.

Samsung sends it out to unlocked models
Sometimes they can be first with security updates but usually have to wait after the 4 carriers. It will get android 10 but probably after carrier do.

Don't worry, I had note 9 and pixel 2 xl unlocked on AT&T. Just sit and relax, updates will come and you will get Android 10 when it is released by Samsung. I am now with TMobile, but it's the same deal. Security patching and Major OS upgrades are pushed to unlocked handsets by Samsung and not your carrier.

For note 10, security patches been getting pushed within a week or 2 behind their release date.

As for finger print patching, I got it yesterday. But this one is a bit different, I read somewhere that it is not being pushed to all handsets. Anyway, you shouldn't worry, you are good with security patching and Major OS updates.

Thank you both. I was worried as this is the first phone I bought unlocked from the factory. Have always had them unlocked after I paid them off with the carrier. Really appreciated the answers so quickly.

Your welcome!

You'll only get the notification for the fingerprint update if you're actually using that form of authentication. At least that's what has been mentioned in a video I saw on the topic. Some people that turned off fingerprint when the security scare started are now wondering why they haven't received the update. So, if you turned off the sensor (deleted your fingerprints), try turning it back on. That will likely trigger the notification for the update.

Thank you. I have the fingerprint sensor on and use it the most because the darn trusted location works on day and not the next and basically, the fingerprint sensor works about every 3rd or 4th push.
