A small gray boxed icon shows up on my wife's nook every once in awhile? It says Updating followed by a number, or UPD followed by a number. It must be some setting I have not found. Does anyone know how to turn it off?

The nook is running CM7.1 on an sd card.

Thanks
Dan C.

Press the up arrow button on the bottom and it will usuaslly expand the window to show what was updated.

Can you make post a screen shot?

Some apps are set to auto update by default in CM. To turn off go to market -> My apps and then look through all of your apps to see what apps are set to auto update. I know for sure both Superuser and Rom manager auto update.

Here's a photo showing the updating icon above the soft buttons. Screenshot was iffy.

Looks like it is some sort of app. That is the same sort of pop up for Superuser. What apps do you have installed that require root?

Also, are your apps set to auto update? You check that box off when you are downloading or manually updating on the market site.

The only apps superuser shows with permissions are ROM and Screenshot I used and discarded.

I am sure some apps are set to auto update. When I go to manage applications, there are no settings to disallow. I guess I could go to the Market to check each app, and then disallow?

Thanks

You only have a chance to decide whether to allow auto update or not when you either install the app for the first time or when you update it. Just about every app that I have downloaded does not have the box for auto update checked off by default. Each time an app updates you should see which one it was at the bottom of your screen. You will see an icon at the very bottom to the right of the icon that looks like a circle with an upwards arrow through it. If you tap that circle/arrow icon a widow at the bottom will open and show what apps updated with a "clear" button at the right. I would wait until this happens and then go to the market and uninstall the app and then reinstall it without checking off the box for auto update.

I found the problem. Animated Weather from Amazon. It makes sense, as it keeps checking time, etc. I do not seem to have the problem with Animated Weather from the Market.

Thanks
