Updating the Verizon Galaxy Tab S 10.5

I recently bought a used, Verizon branded Tab S, and currently have no sim in it. I've been trying to update the device, but searching for software updates from the settings menu gives me the "Service unavailable: Software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later." message. When I try the software update assistant on my PC I keep getting "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware."

So is there any way to get the latest update for this device? Do I need to head to a Samsung or Verizon store to get it done?

I don't know the answer but does Samsung still have reps in Best Buy stores that might be able to help.

Not gonna update without a sim card. Head to Best Buy for heads up assistance by a Samsung rep.
