upgrade froyo to Ice cream sandwich?

If you're planning on flashing an ICS ROM, then yes. If you're waiting for an OTA, the DINC probably won't ever get one. I'm amazed we even got an official Gingerbread update.

The INC is guaranteed to never get an official ICS update. Google is not supporting the Nexus One, which is nearly identical hardware to our device, so there is no way HTC or Verizon would put out an update for our device. Work on ICS ROMs is coming along, CM9 is on the way and it would appear our phone will still be supported. There is also an alpha build available over on XDA or RootzWiki from kush (not koush), and that is shaping up really nicely. Mostly everything works except camera.

I think it will be a decent amount of time before we see a fully functional ICS ROM, mostly because all of the devices that are getting official updates have very different hardware than our INC. Gingerbread came quickly thanks to official builds for the Nexus One, ICS will be a bit trickier.

The ICS-Deck Alpha 1 build is really awesome. A couple of work arounds but nothing extraordinary if you don't use your camera. I use mine as a daily driver except when I travel and I actually might need the camera. Check it out at XDA.

Thanks for this, Wanda. I've been waiting for more people to say that the Alpha is working pretty well and I think I've heard enough to give it a shot.

As I said it may take a couple of tweaks to get the calendar to sync and there's a work around for the USB mount but for the most part its a really strong start.

Camera not working and better battery life on CM7 made me restore while I'm out on the road but once I get back home I'll be going back to ICS!!

Possibly yes and no. The OTA is obviously the one that Verizon signs off and pushes to your phone. The Official GB ROM might be the exact same or could be the exact ROM minus the bloatware and rooted.

There are probably a few "Official" GB ROMs since it took Verizon a couple of go's before they decided to release it.

are an official GB rom and OTA GB rom same?

Hey galaxy, I'm not trying to be rude when I say this, but I think maybe you should read around a little bit more before you go flashing anything. Many of the questions you have been asking on these forums have been answered or addressed in multiple threads. Try to read through all of the stickies, and browse around on XDA for a little while, that should catch you up to speed.

I am running the ICS-Deck Alpha 1 on my old DINC as well and can vouch for it.

Once ICS progresses a lil more I will flash it on my incredible.
I didn't realize Cm9 would be supporting the incredible either. That would be awsum to have on the dinc

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

If you haven't checked out the progress I think they're on Alpha 5 or something. Mine was very stable. I've defected to the Rezound so I don't know exactly what works and what doesn't but it sounds like the camera works, no video, and all the other major things work.

Alpha 5 is working well for me, other than the launcher was a little flakey. Nice part is you can uninstall it if you want. I have not removed it yet, but I did install the Nova launcher from XDA and that seems to be more stable for me.

Liking it so far.
