I called sprint to try to upgrade but my phone is not due yet but my wife phone is. The agent told me to upgrade my wife and once I get it to call and swap the number to mine.

Has anyone done this? Did it work?

I have a friend who did it but you will lose the mail in rebate. When Sprint check your eligibility and check the number you used to upgrade they will see that the phone is no longer on that line you will not get the rebate.

I did this trough Best Buy and it worked
I got the phone on my gf line, then I went home logged in to sprint chat and they did it with no problems

I did it with my son's line. Bought the phone at BB on his line, took the phone home, called and had it swapped to my line. No problem.

Sent from my HTC Evo 4g

You could try what others suggested by upgrading her line and then hopping online and doing a swap of the numbers. What I ended up doing however (not sure if this was a fluke or what) is put my number as the Primary since the Premier Upgrade only works on the primary number on the account. It took one billing cycle to reflect the change so I made sure I did it a month prior to the EVO launch day.

Anyways, long story short, when I checked Best Buys Mobile Upgrade Center to see if it was showing I could upgrade, both numbers were showing as being eligible for an upgrade even though hers was only showing originally prior to me doing this swap.

Needless to say I was a little skeptical so I called and also did an online chat with Sprint to make sure this was 100% accurate and both confirmed that both lines were eligible for a full upgrade so we each ended up getting new EVOs. Like I said it could have been a fluke, but so far so good. I have been keeping a close eye on my account to make sure they don't try to sneak in the additional price of one of the phones as an "oops we screwed up!" and to date I have received my first bill post upgrading and it was as it should be.
