Upgrade Verizon vs. wirefly

Okay I've recently switch over my cell phone from my moms account and got my own service with Verizon. I'm still eligible for an upgrade 6/30/2011 since I switched over they put on the new two every program and I can't upgrade at discount price verizon says I have to pay full retail price. So I checked out wirefly and did the steps for there upgrade and I was able to only have to pay $206 for a contract extension to get the HTC thunderbolt. I just wanted to know why would I have to pay full retail from verizon because im not eligible for a upgrade but only have to pay $206 for a contract extension with wirefly.
