In Europe, there is an official OTA update for this one. You can flash an European RUU to get Android 2.2 on your Desire, or you can go Unrevoked and a custom ROM.

Telus has an official ota, otherwise you'll have to root.

I'm waiting on Cellular South to drop their 2.2 update. I' just being patient.

Now, I do have a Cyanogenmod ROM, but I would like to have an official version.
