I just got served by my ex-wife, making various facetious allegations. I want to dump some of my text messages from her to basically prove that she's not being rational. What is the best way to do that? I use Handcent, btw, and my court date is at 9:30am - so I need this by 9am ET ideally and it needs to be free.

Are the messages stored on the phone somewhere? I have Astro and couldn't find anything....

Thanks!

SMS Backup

Try "SMS Backup"

It backs up all your text messages to a chosen gmail account. You can even attach a label to the messages in the advanced setting.

First off.. this might not hold up in court as anyone can edit a text message locally.

The BEST way to do this and have it legally binding is to get a log of your SMS from the carrier.

well even getting these SMS from the carrier can be edited. just use SMS backup...the log times cannot be changed.

well if you ask for it in transcript form already printed out, the carrier would have to be the one editing it(doubtful).. vs saving it locally on your pc and just opening the file up through notepad and editing then printing....

true but then you can make the file read only when you save it. they can tell if you modified the file after initial save by checking properties...just saying

Doesn't it take a court order to get the carrier to print the text messages anyway? IDK cuz I've never tried but I heard you can't just call and ask for it.

Thanks for all the help. Thankfully, the hearing this morning went well enough that I didn't need the info, but the way she's going, I will likely need it in the future. I'll give some of them a shot. Thanks again!
