Hi. If you have accepted the recent changes in WhatsApp terms and conditions, it enables Facebook to access all your phone data and use it as it may want..mostly for advertisements.

You can opt out. Simply go to settings - account and uncheck share my information.

You may want to edit your subject line to state WHATSAPP. Based on your post it was a PHONE security update and
is misleading

There is no point in this because even though you have not given them the consent, WhatsApp will still share your phone data with Facebook. Apparently it is stated clearly at the bottom of the Terms and Condition and it was also reported by several Reputable New Media round the world like BBC, Al-Jazeera and so on.
