Hey guys;
I drive a (very) old Subaru, which does not have wireless audio. My old phone had a headphone jack, so I was able to plug into my sound system using a 3.5mm TRS plug using the aux input. The Pixel 6 does not have a headphone jack, but I assume that I can route audio over USB if I use a USB-C to 3.5mm TRS jack, or if I want to get fancy, I could use a Bluetooth DAC (to which I would plug the 3.5mm plug from the sound system), but I think the wired usb audio should be fine.
Is there any specific brand of adapter I should get?

Another thought: Maybe I need an amp.
I recall that when connecting my old phone's headphone jack to the aux input of my sound system, I needed to crank the volume on the vehicle's audio way up.

Thanks

Any reputable brand should be fine. You can find Google's own adapter for relatively cheap -- it's $12 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Google-Headp...16627&sprefix=google+usb-c+to+,aps,872&sr=8-2

UGREEN is a reasonably reliable brand, I think, and they have one for $9: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Headp...x=anker+usb-c+to+3.5mm+adapter,aps,326&sr=8-2

For these kinds of adapters, it usually works best if you crank up the volume on your phone first, then adjust the volume on your car stereo. If the volume on your phone was down, that may be why it seemed to quiet for you in the past.

I ended up buying the Anker model for about $5 more, because Amazon wanted $5 to ship the Google one. While it was pretty much a 'push', I have a peeve about paying shipping on Amazon Prime. I have always liked Anker products anyway.
