USB connection issue...

When i hook up my captivate via usb and set it to usb mass storage i can move stuff about no problem and it sees it fine.. but when i'm done and unhook it nothing will see that i still have the sd mounted.. internal or external sd when i goto the gallery app or anything it says sd not detected or something along those lines.. and if i try and mount it it dosnt do anything... not sure what the problem is...

heres what i have done.. downloaded and installed kies that works SOMETIMES some times the connecting screen on the just keeps 'flashing' like its loading the connection app then closing it over and over and over.. so i tried usb mass storage so i set the phone to usb mass storage and simply plug in the usb cable transfer what i need transfered then in windows tell it to saftly remove the 2 drives (internal and external sd) then tell the phone to disconnect and then unhook the usb cable after that i cant access the sd (internal or external) the only way i can get it back in reboot the phone... (i also tried other unhooking methods like just unplugging the cord. disconnecting the phone then removing the cord, safely removing the phone in windows the just unplugging the cord.. all of them result in the same thing...)
