It's normal, it's plastic.

That's because you rub it to make sure that it is closed tight.

Mine still looks new, but my phone has a Qi wireless charger in it.

You can buy replacements on eBay. They are very cheap and easy to install. Took me less than 2 minutes after I broke mine.

I rub my USB cover because the Samsung genie app tell me to make sure it's on.
