Its not the best solution but,

Do you have another usb cable to try.

Is you windows system updated.

You could also try to copy your pictures to your SD card, take it out, and put it in your computer.... (or vice versa) although I admit that's very annoying.

Does the X come with a driver install disc? If so, might try a re-install?

If not, maybe check 'Administrative Tools->Event Viewer' and see if you can spot what is happening immediately before the crash?

When I plug in usb, the normal pop up comes up with 2 options, install the moto driver or explore if I click either it crashes. any ideas? Im running windows 7 and never had this problem before with any of my phones.

The card will work if I unplug it and insert to pc, so something between droid x and pc are not liking eachother..any ideas?

BlackBerry had this problem too with the Storm 1.

Anyone else running into this? I'm going to search the web for the driver and try and download it. anyone have the exact name?

FIXED: downloaded driver off moto site, if anyone else is having this issue hopefully this works for you too.

PC crashes - almost always

I have had the same problem. Blue page and full PC crash with Windows XP Pro. I have downloaded the latest drivers and even downloaded the motorola driver installer program that cleans and updates the drivers.

Help if you can!

Word of warning here ... that Moto app/program that pops up (every time you plug the X to your computer via USB) is totally useless and counter productive. It causes more problems than it ever solved. DON'T INSTALL IT!

If you have installed it on your computer, UN-install it and click cancel every time it shows up when you are in USB Mass Storage Mode.

You simply don't need it. All can be done via USB using the standard drag/drop method - the X will function as a flash drive. You can move music, photos, ringtones, create folders, and on and on...
ALL without the intervention of that Moto program.

In the early days of the X (last summer), it was widely discussed and there was general agreement that the program was worthless.

+1

I simply can't find what good it is for. You can do everything with the ol' drag and drop technique.
