I know that title is vague...only so many alphanumerics allowed ;)

I've got PDANET on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I use a USB cable to plug it into my laptop so that I can connect to the web. (I chose not to have Wi-Fi in the house.) Can I do the same if I plug into a Samsung Tab 10.1"? The tablet has Wi-Fi but no 3G/4G option. I know I would have to download the PDANET For Tablet app. But here's the part I am not absolutely clear on. First, even if the app works, I'm not sure what kind of cable I would need. My understanding is that it would be Micro USB at both ends. But - even in that physical configuration - is there any sort of a "male/female" consideration? And, perhaps more to the point, does my tablet allow for a cabled teathering, or is it restricted to charging and/or file sharing from the mini-USB port?

Bear with me if my terminologies are inaccurate :) Your advise and insight very welcomed. Thanks.

Perhaps I'm asking the obvious, but why don't you just use PDANet on the phone as a wireless hotspot for the tablet? That's what I do at home and it works just fine. I suppose you could also use Bluetooth (I haven't fiddled with that).

To answer your question - I haven't tried using USB tethering on the tablet; that would indeed require a micro-USB to micro-USB cable.

Part of the OP's question, I believe, has to do with the connections on the cable joining the phone to the tablet ... a cable with male micro USB on both ends is needed?

I previously asked that also.

Is such a cable available? ... or is there an alternative?

Thanks ... I didn't realize the hub outlets were interconnected.
