I recently purchased one of these cables (mini USB to female USB). I'm wondering what people have found is the best way to access data on a USB stick through their phones. In order to get it working on my phone I had to root, and use an App called "stickmount" along with "total commander" file explorer.

Its kind of a pain in the but to my buddies galaxy S4 which just pops open the USB stick the minute he plugs it in (he is totally stock and unrooted).

Found a report on another thread of someone using Astro, which works well un-rooted. I hate ads and $3.00 is steep for a file manager.

...figures, only key word I didn't use: flash drive.
