I purchased a cable that let's me plug a USB stick into my LG G4. I placed a movie on the stick from my mac and plugged into the phone but don't see the movie. I then copied a file from my phone to the stick but couldn't see that when I plugged it into the Mac. Weird. Any idea why I can't see files on this stick using the built in file manager on my phone?

Try to copy from a file coming from the MAC and see whether you can see it from the G4.

Think the file system coming from the G4 is not recognized by the MAC.

That was the first thing I did. While the phone didn't see the movie, it did show 2 folders that don't show up on the Mac. It's almost like I'm using 2 different usb sticks.

Is the phone reading the stick correctly? If you copy a file on, using the phone, remove the stock, then reconnect it to the phone, does the phone still see the file?

I've heard that phone USB ports don't supply much power, so let's make sure the phone can run the stick properly.

The phone is reading the stick correctly. It shows up the file I placed on it from the phone.

What file system is the stick formatted with? I suppose you could try formatting it with the phone, as maybe FAT32, if it isn't already.

It's fat32. It works fine on the Mac, Boxee Box and a windoze computer. Should it be fat32 to be read on the phone? Can you format it on the phone?
