Use-Case Scenario for Dex?

I want to buy Dex for my S8 but gotta admit, that is probably mainly because I'm a tech-o-holic. What exactly do you think would be a use-case scenario for it? Surely there aren't really people selling their pc's because they'll just use their phone as their main computer?

I am curious as to how well it will work. I could see it being useful for me as long as it is at least as useful as a chromebook. For work I don't need heavy duty computing but it does need to be smooth and fast. The ability to plug in my phone and run what I need then grab it and run would be nice. But at that price it needs to segregate the apps I need and run a good browser.
It would also need to be able to answer and make calls without having to touch the phone.

My issue is that after the S8, peripherals and dex you are in the area to purchase a nice windows 10 machine.
I have a chromebook and I plug my good keyboard mouse combo in, use the hdmi out, then I can either use two screens or close it and have a good experience on my TV.

When I had my Note 2 I had the Samsung dock and it was nice for the time. 720 hdmi, 3 usb ports and it shut the screen off when running.

I'm also curious about it, and kinda want it for the same reason: techaholic. I think it's pretty telling that one of their selling points is the ability to log into your Windows pc with a remote connection, though. Obviously they realize it's not good enough to replace your pc.

I use it to launch a virtual desktop with Windows 10 on it through the Citrix receiver app for work. Works pretty well and I can get all my notifications at the same time. Faster than booting up my laptop and logging in when I always have my phone on me I can just dock and undock when needed.
