Use Custom Audio Files for Notification Tones

I feel like a complete noob LOL. For years on my devices I've used Root Explore to move audio files from Google Drive to the "Notifications" folder on my phone to set individual app notification sounds accordingly. Doing this on the S22 Ultra doesn't seem to be working. The sounds are not populated as notification options for notification sounds. This is the path I'm moving the audio file to:/sdcard/Notifications.

I was just messing around trying to figure this out and I put the same audio files in /sdcard/Ringtones and these files showing up as options when I go to change ringtones, so I know there's not an issue with the sound files.

Anyone have luck getting custom audio files set as notification sounds?

I have. I put a ringtone into ringtones and a notification in notifications. Both mp3. Some times you have to power cycle for them to show up.

Don't think there's one longer than 3 seconds and I've never had an issue with these notification tones in the past.

Yeah, that's interesting. I put 3 in Notifications, 1 in Alarms, and 1 in Ringtones. Everything is working on my end.

i don't know how to find the ringtones folder nor the notifications folder.

may i ask what app you guys are using to find these folders please?

i used to use this good app but in the last couple of years, they started demanding odd access to files that they have no reason to need access to, so many reviewers said it is time to move on, so now, i don't have an app or a way to navigate and find files.

thank you in advance. hope someone has an answer soon.

That's weird! Fired up my Pixel 6 Pro and everything worked fine when doing it there ... So odd.

I use Root Explorer ... Paid for the full version years ago and it is typically my go-to file explorer.

I use the Samsung 'My Files' app which is pre-installed on Samsung phones.

I have my notification sounds in the:

'Internal Storage/Notifications' folder.(Using Samsungs My Files App)

They show up when selecting sounds in most cases, but I notice on some apps, they are not available. (Example, my banking app)

That's where they are on my phone too but they don't show up as an option for any app's notification sound.

So strange. It should be working.

:(

I wonder if moving them from your Google Drive to a PC then transferring by USB cable from the PC to the notification folder in your phone storage would make any difference. Sounds a little archaic, but you never know...

I hope you get if figured out! :)

I got a little creative ... I downloaded Zedge and it allowed me to download and set a custom notification tone that populated under the "custom" list under the sound picker. So, I moved all my sound files into that newly created Zedge folder and BAM! All my sound files are now populating

.

Since I'm using Goldwave to create the sounds on my PC, I just connect the phone to it, and cut and paste to the folders on the phone.
