Use Moto 360 without phone or android wear app?

I just picked up a Moto 360 and the first thing it says is to download the android wear app. I don't have an android so is there anyway to skip this step? :/ I was hoping I could use this by itself without an android but if not I guess I'll just return it.

Return the watch. It is a companion piece to an android phone.

Edit: An android tablet would probably work, but seriously, I wouldn't go down that road.

Is your phone an iPhone?
If yes, then Google "XDA forum Android Wear and iOS connectivity".

I would return it. It's far too complicated to get android wear working with iOS. If you are in the market for a smartwatch and don't want to spend the outrageous prices for the Apple Watch take a look at the pebble watches. They are really nice. They're even about to come out with a color screen version.

Best Buy has the original Pebble on sale for $79.99...$59.99 for students. Not a Moto 360, but cheap entry into the smartwatch world.

Pebble is a good entry brand for the smart watch world. I still have my original black, and miss the 5-7 day battery life. Thew new color ones promise the same battery life, are more attractive, and at a reasonable price point as well.
