Used or Refurbished device-which would you choose?

Just wondering that if you had to choose, would you choose used or refurbished in terms of a device you wanted to buy?

Tough question. Probably refurbished, because that will typically be backed up by the manufacturer. Used devices are typically via eBay or Craigslist, so all you have is the seller's word. Of course, you can always buy a SquareTrade warranty or something similar, but the hassle of having to make a claim might not be worth it.

Refurbished.

The only place I wouldn't trust refurb items is from Walmart, since they typically don't send damaged items back to the manufacturer (I used to work at Walmart).

Otherwise all refurbished items get returned to the manufacturer, are fixed and are made sure to be free of defects, and then sent back to the store to be resold.

I would also suggest purchasing a refurbished of given the opportunity and the source is reputable. Otherwise, make sure to do your homework on a used device from a private seller.
