Does the retail packaging contain the a printed version of the bilingual user guide (as available from LG's web site)?

Also, I'm technically not due for an upgrade until August 24th. Has anyone had any luck getting an upgrade three months before their upgrade date at new contract pricing?

I never checked what is in the user guide but there is one in box.

As for upgrading early that will differ depending on where you go and who you talk to.

I got my Revolution on launch day even tho my NE2 wasn't till aug 4th
But I go to my Verizon Corp store like 2 times a week so they know me pretty well and I got the manger there to upgrade me cause my Dx2 screen was cracked and I wanted upgarded before tiered data starts. Never hurts to get to know people.
