Is there many people out there using ART instead of dalvik as i am thinking of giving it a proper test as i switched to ART befor but for the first 10 mins it was horrid so turned back to dalvik.. I read somewere that if u leave ART for a good couple of hours it will work far better than what i experienced for the first 10 mins. Is this true.. Im using the uk d855 model if that matters

If you look back in this forum only several days back you will see plenty of posts about this topic. I'm not sure about the UK model but based on what's been written ART on Verizon or Sprint G3 is no good but on AT&T is almost mandatory. Lollipop will be out shortly and it will default to ART so whatever is causing problems between ART and Verizon will be polished shortly. Read my post about ART from a couple of weeks ago. Good luck.

I've switched between Dalvik & ART on numerous occasions over the past couple of months (Im on O2 UK). Yes - you DEFINITELY need to let it settle. It totally re-configures your apps, and you'll find that the phone gets and stays really warm for a while during and after switching. I'd say 2 hours is plenty for it to totally settle though. I did it about half hour before bed, and then plugged in and left it overnight.

Overall, I've found any differences minimal, if at all. ART does pre-load stuff so the load times of apps is a smidge quicker, but you really have to look for it to notice. Battery life... I hear ART is better in some cases, but I've not found this to be so overall. At first I though it was vastly better, but switching to ART just happened to coincide with a couple of lighter days usage. When I was back on my daily commute and gaming/watching vids, it seemed the same. Once Lollipop is released, it will be interesting to see if Project Volta saves the 30-odd% of battery some of the tests suggest - I have a sneaky feeling that this will be less obvious on the G3 as, usually at least, the big battery killer is the screen, and I don't really see how PV or ART can really help in that respect (maybe others can correct me on this - I'm just thinking out loud).

Thanks for the replies guys. I did switch to art and let it do its stuff then put the phone on charge and went to bed. I woke up had a good play about on the phone just genral daily stuff like checking facebook, phone genie, android central and it was a tad laggy at first but within 20mins it was fluid carnt really report much yet but will return here later to report back
