If I turn off Background Data and auto sync. Will that stop data usage?
I'm going on a trip and don't want to use data while on the road, just when I stop.
At home I use wifi unless away from home. I don't have unlimited data and want to conserve it and only use when not driving.
If not, what do I need to do to turn off data.
Hope this makes sense and someone can tell me.

The best way to make sure its completely off is to go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile Networks and then uncheck "Use packet data"

To turn it back on just check it again. I've used this every time I come close to my data limit.
