I want to use my phone in Singapore as a WiFi device only. I don't plan on using the phone, don't think it will work?, and plan on turning off data. Will this work for sending email and texts without incurring any additional charges from Sprint?
Thanks.

Texts will work only if you use Google Voice since it uses data. Normal texting uses cellular data which won't work. Just keep your phone on airplane mode and turn on wifi to use the phone to browse the web.

At which point that can work anywhere in the world, right?
I mean leaving the phone on airplane mode and sending texts, but wouldn't making phone calls be the same on GV?
I travel a lot to central america and it would be cool to know I can at least text on GV while I'm there. Just makes me wonder if making calls would work too.
Then again, there's always gtalk (and video chat!).
