Using Samsung pay on a square reader/register, almost always fails...

I'm in love with Samsung pay, I use it everywhere, usually on my gear s3 but sometimes with my phone. It works for me almost everywhere... except for most of the time when I try to use it at a store with an iPad and square reader for their register. Anyone else run into this? In general it reads the card then declines it, then I use the card it is linked to with absolutely no issue. I feel like this isn't a problem with my hardware, but something apple is doing oon their end of the transaction.

Thoughts?

doubt it's apple. it's probably an issue with the square reader.

Hmm. When I had my 7edge I used it at a square reader and it worked.

I haven't had an opportunity to use the Note 8 on one yet.

Could be the cashier error. Also does it hav an option ahead of time or during the transaction to choose debit or credit? I know with my phone some places specifically work only as Debit, others as credit.

I hardly run into square readers but I don't even try with those, plus I just don't feel secure with that kind of reader either

never had an issue with the square readers. I usually hold the back of the phone where you swipe the card

It takes awhile...but it works on the small square reader connected through the headphone jack.

With Samsung Pay, you don't have to worry about skimming because the magnetic strip is not actually swiped so it's not captured. Besides, even if the merchant using the square reader is shady and decides to use that info Samsung Pay provided for the transaction, it cannot be used again because each Samsung Pay uses tokenization that changes every time it's used and your actual card number is never provided to the merchant.

Sounds like something wrong on their end, unless their terminal needs with a credit or debit- a few places here mine only goes through debit or only credit. Most though can go either way.
