i work with 99.8% pure oxygen and when i herd that this phone has a built in thermometer it was very interesting to me for work reasons.

the question is has anyone found a way of using that sensor to tell the temp outside?

thanks for creating this thread. hopefully more apps will come forward to use these sensors. I already use beweather and mycast classic but I want actuals where I currently am and the app in your link looks pretty good. anyone know of any others?

I like having the thermometer, but it is really impacted by physical touch and takes a while to get a true reading. I also would like to see some accuracy tests.

I'm a lab chemist who takes measurements like these very seriously.

The trouble with temperature sensors built INTO a device (as opposed to connnected to the outside somehow) is that the equilibration time can be pretty long. It's also problematic to put the sensor in an enclosure along with a heat source (CPU, battery during charging, etc). As such, I'd only count on the thermometer being accurate if it'd sat away from your body, in the environment you wanted to measure for a while, screen off and not being charged.

Humidity sensing is notoriously difficult and slow even with lab-grade instruments that are periodically calibrated against salt-solution standards. I have very low expectations for the humidity sensor on the S4.

Pressure is easier to sense than temp or humidity. I'm cautiously optimistic that we can get good real time data out of that one.

The temp sensor isn't very accurate, I've let the phone sit overnight and the first action I took was to try the temp sensor, it was off by 15 degrees.

yea its not accurate at all i suspect it is because of the case and the fact that its inside next to other components that get hot
