usual faulty power button problem, want to wire a new button in it's place

Hello, my phone is currently stuck in a bootloop due to the power button (clicked it earlier to turn off the power, a little after i let go the screen with power off, airplane mode, etc options came up, screen shuts off, hasn't (completely) turned on since). I am considering removing the power switch and wiring a simple button onto the old terminals (pressing the button closes a circuit, nothing more), which points from where the power button used to be would i solder this to so that when i clicked the button, it acted as me pressing the power button? would there be anything else I would have solder to get this to work (ie what do with the other, unused terminal)?
