I love my v10, but recently it was been getting extremely hot and I receive a message saying that it is shutting down to protect the phone. Is anyone else having this issue? If so how did you fix it?

All the time? or is it with certain apps?

Mine gets hot using GPS driving for long distances. I hold it up infront of the AC vent every once in a while.

Are you doing anything new with the phone right now?

I haven't had it shut down yet but it gets so hot I can barely ouch the screen at times. Scares me.

I'm not doing anything different with the phone. I was looking through my social media apps today at lunch and it shut down. The other day I was listening to music using the LG music app and it shut down.

Where you outdoors in direct sunlight?

I actually took the step of contacting LG support. That was a waste of my time. All they said was send it to us and we'll look at it. Meantime I go several weeks without a phone so I said no thanks. Next step is the AT&T store to see if they will do anything for me.

The first thing I do when I have battery drain, or if my phone's running hot is to go check my battery stats in settings. If anything besides the screen is at the top of the list, then that's doing it.

I've known Snapchat to be running my camera in the background all day before and that made my phone pretty hot. I've also noted Candy Crush and similar games (Angry Birds) make the phone run hot. Also, I've heard Pokemon GO is causing hot phones too.

Top one is always screen with android system second. This thing gets hot while doing nothing. Sometimes just sitting there.

I'm getting the overheating messages when using GPS whilst driving. Firstly it'll flash up and say it's not charging anymore because of heat, then it'll say it's turning off. Up until now it's never actually turned off, and I've just ok'd the messages.
When I first had the phone and used GPS when driving, I would charge the phone at the same time using a 1a charger and it used to increase the charge very slowly.
Nowadays I actually lose charge whilst charging!

Aside from using GPS, my phone rarely gets hot and I've actually seen a slight increase in battery life since marshmallow. I'm wondering if there may be a fault with the GPS chip?

I got sick of it. Called AT&T today. They said it was a software issue. I disagree since I have done a factory reset 5 times but they are sending me a replacement phone.

When you perform a FR, do you use a backup or start from scratch?

I've done it both ways. With the backup it actually got worse. When I set it up as a new device it was great for awhile then started the heating up thing again. It was definitely better with the set up as new device option though.

v10 is my first LG experience. called them up in March about charging port issue and got the same response. I couldn't go without my phone while they repaired it. I called ATT 2 days ago about this issue. they agreed to send me a replacement. they said LG gives them phones for customers still under warranty. I was told something different several months ago. give them a call and good luck.

I called them. They sent a replacement which was delivered today so I'll get it when I get home. Pretty annoying that I bought a NEW device and it's defective so they send me a used refurbished device to replace it. Since I'm paying the full new price of $799 I think I should get a new phone or a discount to the used like new price they sell them for but I know better dealing with AT&T. Hopefully it fixes the problem at least.

Let us know if the replacement is any better!
Got the replacement phone Monday. Have been using it ever since the same way I used the other and this phone has no overheating issues. At it's worse while playing Pokemon Go for over an hour it got slightly warm to the touch. The old one was hot as soon as I booted it up running nothing. This is a big improvement. Hopefully it continues running like this.

My phone's gotten pretty hot but that's in 90°F heat in Austin. I've never experienced overheating with the V10 or any other phone.
