So I know our V30 phones have very good battery life but ive been suprised by some of the crazy long screen on and standby times that some of you are getting. I thougt a thread to share strategies to lengthen battery life would be helpful.

For me, I use:

1) auto brightness
2) limit syncing of accounts to an hour or greater depending on time a and need.
3) turn off location tracking in many apps. I still leave GPS on but I selectively leave certain apps disabled for tracking
4) uninstall or disable unused apps
5) stay connected to wifi whenever its available but I do disable wifi scanning
6) limit power saving exclusion only to apps that the system requires excluding. Check this under battery settings.

Thats about it for me. I dobt toggle off things like Bluetooth or NFC. I leave those on generally as well as the always on display. I get approximaitely a 15 hour day off the charger with 4.5 to 5 hours of SOT and usually have about 10 to 20% battery left by the time I out my V30 on the charger.

What techniques do you use and results do you all get?

Don't use auto brightness. It's finicky on the V30. Just manually adjust as needed.

Better keeping BT off unless you need it. Otherwise it is constantly scanning.

Also, a tip: get rid of FB app. It sucks more battery than it lets on.

Thanks MaGa. seems like a pain in the *** to remember toggle Bluetooth each time I get in and out of the car. are your battery saving significant?

As to the Facebook, I wonder if a saved weblink icon versus the actual app would save battery?

Viewing Facebook by web browser will probably save battery power and certainly will get you more privacy. The downside is probably no new-message counts on the icon.

touch.facebook.com works great for me.

I also use Facebook Lite. It's really light on resources.

I also use greenify

Automatic brightness never worked well for me on the G4 and I had to turn it off...are you saying that this is still an issue on the V30?

I've seen a few anecdotal stories that it jumps around too much (as in will change too often with minimal ambient changes). That said, I don't use auto, so can't comment on my device.

I like the auto brightness on the V30. as with many of the reviews, LG auto brightness seems to keep it on the slightly lower side which I like. I don't notice and sudden or unreliabile changes. it works well.

Your point 3 has been really interesting.can u explain more on how u do it?

Sure, if you go under general settings to "applications" you can select any app and set its permissions. Location settings is one of these. Just deny it for that app.

Hmm I can suggest one more thing
If u have enabled Google now u will see that you pretty much have a roadmap of where u visited and how much time etc etc
U can turn this location sharing off.go to location setting and and then disable location sharing u can still use it with gps but it won't be frequently scanning for the placesu go often, and it saves a ton of battery

I bought the V30 after I posted this. The automatic brightness didn't work after the update after I powered the device up, a cache clear and factory reset (something I do after any major update) fixed it and now auto works fine.

I make sure my phone is face down when I leave it on my desk or night stand. That way the AOD shuts off. I can change it before bed and most offten it's at 99~100% still in the morning. I have found that turning off the Bluetooth ans WiFi when not using them saves power too.

Lateck,

I actually prefer the auto brightness

Really, I find the auto brightness on the V30 works better than it did on the S7 Edge. I always thought the S7 was too bright. I quite like the V30's auto brightness.

Also, I always leave bluetooth on. I don't want to have to switch it on and off every time I get in and out of the car. It really doesn't seem to impact the battery to a great degree.

I use it, I don't notice it fluctuating. You may not like it if you like a blazing bright screen, but I am fine with it.
