V40 notch doesn't turn off

When I turn off notch in settings, some apps still have the notch on,

Not all apps support it. It's not that bad to have it.

There is an app called Nacho Notch available through the Playstore that offers a system wide remedy.

The notch never actually turns off. The bar next to it can be turned to black. Just leave it black so at least you can use it for notification icons.
