My Verison SGS3 has a Verison Data Usage widget that shows the current usage for the month, except you have to launch the application to get it to up date.

I asked the V store about this and they said it was suppose to update once an hour and that they would put in a service ticket about it not working on the SGS3's for me and that it would probably be fixed on a future update.

My son mentioned last night that it was a known issue, but that there was not going to be a fix for it.

Does the forum have any source of information about this? It does not appear to be just my phone. My wife and son both have 3's also with the same issue.

I have unlimited but have it just out of curiosity and noticed the same thing.

Wasn't the widget borked when they got rid of unlimited data for shared crap? I didn't think they updated it yet....

Yup... Widget live update is dead. No longer functional. Was informed to use their stock My Verizon Mobile app embedded in the device.

I've found that if I log into the widget (just click on it) and then exit after it loads then it'll update my data usage

The My Verizon App after the last update states under What's New:
Widget no longer refreshes in the background. User must tap to refresh.

Well duh.
They don't want you to know how much data you have used. They WANT you to go over the new limits they have pushed on us, which will let them bump up you bill for the overage.

Which is fine IF all you had to do was tap it for a quick refresh. However, there's no reason it should have to load the whole "My Verizon" program with its bloated loading time just to fetch a number.

They even put that little "refresh" symbol on it...makes you think you can just press it and it will quickly refresh your data usage. It's actually a reminder of what the app should do, not what it actually does.

I've been thinking about this. As long as I am going reinstall tasker, I might as well set it to launch the verison app, then close the app at say 3 am so it's at least updated once a day. If I tell it to do it again during the day it will undoubtedly do it the very moment I need to do something else in a hurry.

That is false...what about all the notifications notifying you about wifi in your area and the ongoing notifications of wifi? And its only verizon with the ongoing notification....so i think your statement is a little off
