I don't know if its the iPhone launch causing this or network testing but my 3G speeds have been PATHETIC lately, like 1Mbps or less(600-800k lately) , sometimes it will get a burst up to 1.8-2.0Mbps where before it used to be 2.0-2.7 all the time !!
Has anyone else noticed Verizon has been sucking real bad lately??

Are you in a major area that's slated to get 4g this year? if so, make sure you update your towers (*228 option 2) and also if you're using a speed test app, try different servers. it could be the server near you is overloaded/poor quality.

If had some loco start a speedtest server closer to my apartment than the one that comcast hosted, so the app defaulted to it. The problem was, he was running it off of his own computer, and a DSL connection, so it made my speeds slower and latancy go through the roof.

I don't think there were anywhere near enough iphone activations to cause issues yet, one way or the other. Unless your in NYC and San Fran and everyone with att iphones switched to Verizon.

Probably not that noticeable. I think once there are more 4g devices then it might but as of right now, only the TB and 2 USB modems which I rarely see even at airports. I usually see Mifis and USB 3g modems.

Yeah, I do the *228 opt#2 regularly. I think the 3G has been throttled to either push people toward 4G when it's released later this year(supposedly what VZW says) or just to save tower bandwidth to give 4G better service.

Either way, It plain sucks to do any data work on 3g now, it's killer slow.

Be grateful you get above 200kbps, that's what I am getting right now 80kbps-180kbps and I am in a rural city environment, like a city with 50,000 people. My phone also jumps between 1bar and 4 bars withing the same space in the same room though, so I think my phone might just be buggy.

i have noticed the same thing since monday. I work in downtown Raleigh and usually i would get 1 or 2 bars of 3g. Now it is either 3g with no bars (or if i walk to a window or step outside i get 1 bar). Or i will get just the 1x. I cant hardly download updates without it taking 10 mins to do so. I use to have no problems, but now its very inconvenient.

What is up with this?

Same thing in my area. I have seen Verizon trucks driving around lately and I know we're in the process of getting LTE this summer, so I assume they are working on the towers here.

That's probably what's causing the slow down here. A couple friends of mine have noticed the slow down also.

I've actually seen a net Increase in speeds recently, but two cities near me just lit up with LTE so I'm assuming the backhaul is insane in this area.
