Verizon Droid DNA - Charging error

I broke my screen, so I purchased one from China via Ebay. I replaced it today without any real hickups, until I tried to charge it. When I plug in a USB cable, the battery icon on top will blink with the current battery charge and then again with an apostrophe. I double checked all of the cable connections and everything else seems okay. but I did put a small dent in the corner of the battery when I first pulled it lose from the case. Has anyone had similar issues like this?

After giving up on the phone for a few hours, I plugged in the battery and it started charging again.... I cant explain why, but it charges just fine now.
