Hrmmm I never thought I'd see the day where Sprint was nickel and diming its customers more than Verizon (the king of overpricing) on a similar high end phone but I guess today's the day. $70/mo vs $80/mo - $240 more over a 2 yr period...

Gizmodo, the Gadget Guide

4g wont be in my area for awhile (Inland Empire, CA) and I probably wouldnt use it anyways due to battery drain so is there any real reason to get the Evo over the DroidX?

If anything I hope this gets Sprint to drop the fee. Competition is great :)

Ok, I am assuming your are speaking of there 39.99 for talk and 30.00 for data which equals the $70.00 that you are speaking of. But this doesnt come with unlimited txt message (which i believe is an additional $15.00), Tv ( $15.00??) GPS ($9.99). So you are talking about an additional $40.00 on top of that $70.00 you speak of.

Doubt Sprint drops the fee since technically they have 4G. I agree that the $10 fee should be removed. 4G is spotty at best and 90% inconsistent. We're paying for an almost non-existent "premium data" feature.

Sounds like a sick phone, what does everyone think -

PS - earthquake just struck in Canada that was felt in NYC (I didn't feel it though hmmm)

The real news is:

"Also, any Verizon customer whose contracts ends anytime in 2010 is eligible for the upgrade pricing."

Why in the world did Sprint not do this with the Evo 4G? In this area, they should follow AT&T and Verizon.

I dont know what your smoking, the deal for the evo is way better.

The X needs a 29.99 data pack mandatory. add that to the 59.99 talk and text 450.. thats 89.99, on top of that you don't get unlimited mobile to mobile.. Sprints data 450 with any mobile is only 69.99+ $10 for the evo...

And Compare the equivalent everything plans, your looking at 89.99 for talk and text +29.99 for data on VZW (not including nav, or tv), where your looking at 99.99+10.00 for the evo.

Haven't you stopped reading that gizmodo spew yet?

Um try $90 for their minimum data plan if you want texting. Also, you only get 450 minutes with unlimited talk after 9 pm, vs Sprint unlimited mobile to mobile and free land line after 7 pm. Not even close in comparison.

I think their plan is $59.99 for 450 min plus unlimited text. Then you add on the $29.99 for the smartphone data plan for a total of $90. Not much of a difference between the two.

Their phone does look good. And I believe it comes with 8gb storage plus a 16gb card.

With all the back and forth about the various issues and not getting a definitive statement from HTC about a "final" version of the evo (the latest being 2 different brands of the screen), I wonder how many people on the waiting list or waiting for a later batch are just going to throw in the towel on the evo...

Definitely just posted links for both providers plans above. Keep in mind you don't get unlimited mobile to mobile on vzw, only to other vzw people.

Yeah I was talking about the $70/mo basic smartphone plan so that others who are pissed about the fee could know of an alternative before their 30 day return policy expires.

Regarding the other "fees":

- Not sure why ANYONE would willingly pay for text messaging anymore since Google Voice is now open for everyone and is 100% FREE .

- GPS is free due to Google Maps Navigation

- Havent tried it but I cant say I've heard good things about Sprint TV yet.

The main argument people say for the Evo is the included text messaging/visual voicemail (taken care of by Google Voice) and the cellphone to cellphone free min which I could understand if your a heavy talker but for me I use about 250 per month so I'd rather save $240...

Its like people forget how much extra **** comes with Sprint's plan's vs. Verizons.

I have the unlimited everything plan, the only thing i pay extra for is international calling and my rates that go with my calls

I'm glad I'm on a family plan and only paying $29.99 a month for my Evo. :)

Also, I think this guy only wrote the article so he could put in this line:

Which gives you something meaty to grab in your pocket, making it surprisingly easy to whip out.

also, don't forget Verizon is suppose to be going to tiered data pricing, which sucks!
