Verizon Extended Warranty Replacement--Potential Issue

I think I read something similar about this here, but I want to ask about my own situation here.

So I am out and about with the wife over the weekend, and I decided to invoke my extended warranty on my wife's line. She got a my old Samsung Droid Charge that replaced her original Samsung Continuum (which was sold for about $40 sometime ago.) The Charge would get random reboots when using Google Maps and such, and I figure that'd be good enough to call Verizon and get a replacement. Originally, I was thinking I'd get a replacement Droid Charge to pawn off and replace wife's phone with my Note 2 while I got the Note 3, which I'm picking up from Best Buy next week. When I called Verizon and told them I wanted to use Extended Warranty on the Droid Charge the CSR just said ok and didn't bother with troubleshooting steps. I guess Verizon got that the Droid Charge really doesn't hold up well. The CSR then said that I wouldn't be punished with getting another Droid Charge, but instead would get a Galaxy S3. I was and am stoked! This is pretty much like a free upgrade. So after saying yes, I spoke to the wife who did her own research and then played with my Note 2 a bit and told me she would much rather keep the S3. Seeing as the S3 is still a good, if not great phone spec-wise, I didn't see a problem with her keeping it, but not before I put it in a case and get a screen-protector for it, in case I decide to sell it on Swappa or something.

So my issue is the Droid Charge. It's been dropped a lot and while it's got a lot of scratches, and the glass is not cracked, it has definitely been banged a lot. It's really just the side bezels and the back cover. While there are scratches, nothing is cracked. Will Verizon get cute and try to get me for the $300 replacement fee or whatever? If they do get cute, when would I know and do I have recourse or will am I just geting paranoid? The phone does reboot randomly and it also at times doesn't hold a charge, and there is no water damage (I looked at those stickers near the battery.) Just want to make sure I'm not going to get dinged. Anything you guys can advised before I send the phone back would be most appreciated.

Could you post pictures of the damage? Verizon is very accepting of every day wear and tear but may be less accepting if the corners are bent in or something along those lines. None of us here can really give you a guarantee but we could possibly give you a better idea if you can get us some photos.

I wish you'd have responded a little earlier--just dropped off the box at the Post Office. I wasn't, unfortunately, of the right mindset to take pictures of it.

It's ok, hoping Verizon takes into account that the Droid Charge is over two years old, and I was one of the first people who jumped on board (had to...it was the only 4G phone at the time that I would have bought...Revolution and Thunderbolt got weak reviews at the time. ) The phone reboots every time I used Google Maps and the battery life was just getting worse and worse.

The Galaxy S3 arrived and I made sure that prior to the wife's use, I put a screen protector (iSmooth) and a Ballistic case. Phone is protected enough and just gave her a call and so far, so good.

I guess I'll know what the deal is after about a month or so. Hoping I don't get dinged for the cosmetic...

If you paid for a replacement I don't see them saying a word.

Well, $1.99 a month anyway...I know it went up to $3. The S3 was the warranty replacement.

I had a little bit of a sleep typing moment there. I confused this thread with another one when I mentioned you paying for the replacement. Hah

You should be okay as long as the damage looks like normal wear and tear.

One thing you could do is take it to a local Verizon Corporate store and have them look at it. Explain a person did it over the phone with you and did zero trouble shooting, and you are worried that it may or may not be covered due to condition when received. Now I take it you already sent it out. But usually cosmetic damage is taken into an account on older phones. It's considers normal wear. As long as nothing is crack and the battery and back are not missing or broken you are fine. I would call in and have Customer Service note thated you talk to someone on the phone about the replacement and they told you to send it in, but no one looked at it directly but a replacement was sent.
