I was new to this when I rooted. After the OTA I read about blocking it but it was too late by then. I already was unrooted and not able yo get back to any of my backups made in CWM prior to the OTA from verizon. No key combination will get me to either Download Mode, or CWM after OTA. I get the unlock symbol with Custom under it and a regular bot into the phone.

As I said I am new to all of this, be gentle, if I am asking a question that was answered, lead me to it, I have been looking. If there is a tutorial, where is it? For the most part I liked being able to backup my entire phone, and it did save me a few times from boot loops that happened after freezing needed files. I stayed on the stock rom after rooting, but now I need tethering and want the security of a backup again. I still hate the bloat but can live with it until I find a rom I like. I hear root66 is a good one but don't know enough to try yet.

Any help out there for me?

Why don't you just re-root it. Like you did the first time and I think you're back up should be there unless the OTA erased them. Good luck

Re: Phone does not go into USB mode when connecting to Win 7

So I downloaded all files to PC, Finally got back to recovery mode. Odin picks everything up normally. was able to flash the VRALEC bootchain, rebooted, then flashed the CWM md5 file,rebooted into the recovery mode

It looked like this,

Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to highlight;
power button to select

reboot system now
apply update from internal storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache

most of options missing. When I choose "reboot system now" I don't see a screen asking me to "Disable Recovery Flash" it just reboots into the standard Verizon startup. (Not Rooted)???? Where to go next...

If I ever get CWM working I do have a fairly recent complete backup on both the internal and external sd cards.
