Verizon Galaxy s4 on 8100 nex android auto

Hi newbie here, I've been trying to connect my galaxy s4 Verizon phone,to android auto on a pioneer nex 8100. I've had no luck so far. I've updated Google services.security updates,with no luck.my head unit says unable to connect to android auto,please check phone when safe to do so, Does anyone out there have my specific phone connected to android auto??? Please help
