Verizon getting ripped apart on FaceBook

They don't know anything it seems.

LooooL nuh-uh!@!!!

tbh. I've reached the point I'll probably cancel my preorder. i already have a DInc that I paid full price for last year after my droid 1 fiasco. i just wanted LTE moreso than this phone and the delay games (esp if it's because of skype) make me want to wait for the multicore LTE phones from Htc.

i'm just curious why everyone is assuming its the 4G network that is the problem and not the device.?. the reason i say this is because 4G has been live now for a little bit and Detroit just went live and there have been no reports of anything wrong with 4G at all.. as matter of fact when the network went live for verizon it got nothing but good reviews about its speed and consistency from most everyone that tested it. Just curious about why everyone is all up in arms about this device launch and assuming its the network when there have really been no reports of the 4G network having any issues anywhere its been launched..just sayin

you do realize that none of the devices being released will be able to take advantage of dual core processors with gingerbread....it wasnt made to be able to take advantage of dual core processors.. Honeycomb was but its not even close to being ready to be used on phones yet.. it was made strictly for the xoom.. 2.3 hasnt even been released yet except to a few phones and there are still plenty waiting on it..but until HC is released for phones dual core wont mean much if android cant really utilize the full capabilities of the processors...for me at least.. not such a big deal.. i can wait on what ever phones are coming im not jumpting on the thunderbolt just because..i wanna see what the new lg revolution and samsung 4g have to offer.. the bionic..meh.. not really interestd in another locked up moto device..they can keep it.. especially since they got cheap on the front facing camera...vga?? really??on a suped up device like that.. no thank.. keep it..lol...

If BB is the exclusive retailer for the TB and they gave 2 dates for availability in print/circular ads, I would think that they got that info from somewhere, Verizon maybe, just speculating as common sense aint so common....

Did they actually give dates in the circular's? I know its out in this weeks which by default should have meant it was out Sunday. But I don't remember them putting a date out there. Plus I'd wager money Verizon never gave them an exact date.

It has been stated by two insiders on twitter that it was the network having issues. Something about handing off 4G when switching towers. Something current uses dont see with USB cards because your usually not moving with your USB card.

Are you really that upset? Over a phone release? I want the phone too and will buy it the morning it releases. It seems like a waste of your time to post on Verizons wall, do you think they really give two s****? Not to mention it wasn't supposed to be released til March and on top of that you will want something new in 3 months anyways. So just chillax, it'll be here ;)

And at least it's not another Nexus One for VZ deal

Chillax....cool word!

ahh okies.. got ya..but just for the record.. you do move around with your air card.. that is the main reason people buy them. is to have mobility with their internet.. else they would just get a land line internet connection like rr..just sayin..lol

I sent HTC an email about the TBolt this is what they said, see the part about skype coming post launch?

Dear Nativi,

I appreciate your interest in the HTC Thunderbolt and you were wondering when this Android device would be released. The HTC Thunderbolt was launched with two other Android devices at a Consumer conference during the first week of this month and you can look at the press release available on the HTC regional website at HTC - Mobile Phones, Smartphones, Cell Phones, PDAs under the Home tab (HTC Press Release - Read the Latest HTC Mobile Phone News).

You are welcome to check out the specifications along with other information about this particular Android device on the HTC regional website at HTC - Mobile Phones, Smartphones, Cell Phones, PDAs under the Product tab (HTC ThunderBolt™ at Verizon). Unfortunately, there are a lot of rumors going around about the release; but I do not have an official launch date yet.

The HTC Thunderbolt is the first device to share a 3G or 4G Internet connection with up to eight WI-FI enabled devices with many Smartphone firsts!

• First HTC device with simultaneous voice and date capabilities, enabling customers to browse the web and make voice calls at the same time!
• First HTC device with full integrated Skype mobile with video. Available post launch, it will allow customers to make video calls with friends, family, and colleagues by using the front and rear-facing cameras.
• First Smartphone to feature enhanced Sense™ by HTC, which allows users to customize their device fully, to meet their needs.
• Projector App
• DLNA - Streaming media to TV
• WI-FI Hotspot for up to 8 devices
• 4G LTE device - uses LTE SIM

Actually unless the pre-order was done with a Verizon rep at Best Buy or at a Verizon store, those are on Best Buy. Unlike the Incredible there have been no pre-orders through Verizon. From what I've heard Best Buy was NEVER given an exact date for the launch. Best Buy ran with it though to hype it up and to get business. Since Best Buy, even in the latest circular, never gave a release date I see nothing that would lead me to believe I'm wrong. So again people are getting mad at Verizon for delaying something that was never said to have launched yet.

"From what I've heard Best Buy was NEVER given an exact date for the launch"

Have a source? I would like to think I am a reasonable dude...logic tells me BB didn't just pick a date out of a hat and say "let's go with this...".

Then again, maybe some of the other posters are correct in saying that BB wanted to jump the gun and get those yummy "presales"... who knows...Verizon shares some of my frustration, because they could simply throw a dog a bone and say "this is our target date"...then none of us would have to speculate.

Just chillaxin!

I apologize, you are correct. I assumed there were dates given when it was advertised for pre-order in the circular ads, when in fact there where no dates mentioned. I was basing this ASSumption (you know what they say...) off of the individual stores reported twitter announcements of availability. As I read further into the "announcment" PCmag said this: "When asked, Verizon said that Best Buy determines its own product release dates." in relation to the TB release dates given by the individual stores, so your wager may be a sound investment, lol, if there ever was one.

I did exactly that 5 years ago, and I've never been happier. Why wouldn't someone who is frustrated switch carriers? Are you trying to say VZW is better than everyone else, or just more expensive? I think all of the others (except ATT) have way more free features than VZW and the same coverage nowadays.

You must not live in (or travel through) rural America very much then if you think all carries have "the same coverage nowadays". HAHA!

I can go and pull some tweets from Blackmanx from Twitter and he has talked about the Network issue's. The phone is fine, the LTE Hand off issue has been fixed but there are other stuff.

Huge question is are they going to release the phone with some network issue's or hold off. Or can they get the network bullet proof in 2 days.

Hopefully they can get it ready to go in two days.. if they were going to release it with network issues it probably would've been out by now.

The Atrix is 130 and available today. The Thunderbolt is 250 (or 300?) and available when? Sigh.

2.4 can take advantage of dual core though. (it's Gingerbread with a dual core enable ala google), or so i'm told

And you know this how? Do you have a valid source(s)?

The post was a question, not a statement. I seriously believe we won't see it until March, it is what it is. I would be thrilled if it was this month, but I just don't see it happening.

From all of the posts this thread is pretty divided, either Verizon did or did not give a release date. On one hand Verizon DID give a release date, and yet at the same time Verizon DID NOT give a date.

Its pretty obvious that Verizon did give a tentative date to both Best Buy & Amazon.com. So yes they both had the same date and they got it from somewhere so logic puts that on Verizon.

Best Buy opted to go the pre-order route so they would get sales (generate gift cards) and have plenty of stock and not run out on day 1. Pretty smart business until issues arise and now they are stuck with follow up ads that were done weeks in advance and in good business they may have opted to just remove the date from the ad instead of redoing the whole think. They are printed in advance.

Amazon.com and BB both likely heard the date change AGAIN they got it from somewhere so logic says it was Verizon. Amazon has the ability to just pull the date and they also did not take any pre-orders since they just ship from warehouses.

Best Buy has the pre-orders going for a week and then quietly stopped promoting them once the 14th was not going to be met. Since then both Amazon and BB have been quite, I think the dates the BB employees are giving out are from web forums or their buddies or whatever.

One single BB store put it out on their FaceBook page and honestly that alone is something BB needs to manage better.

As for Verizon, they did not come out and announce officially a date to the consumer, BUT, they did allow their two largest partners to do it, allowing them to remain out of the line of fire, avoid restocks on iPhones, avoid jobs or whatever.

So in the end both sides are right and as of today its a pretty mute point. It will arrive when it arrives, I am likely to return to Best Buy and get a refund on the GC's I have to insure the funds were ready (I am very confident I will get my refund) and just ride it out. I may go full retail price, I may go 1 year price but I will go when it comes out.

+1 to all of this. Part of me is blaming Verizon, and part of me isn't. Like you said, it's obvious that someone gave Amazon and Best Buy a date, and I doubt it was HTC, so that leaves Verizon. On the other hand, a part of me thinks that Best Buy and Amazon know that until Verizon comes out and says something, dates are subject to change and maybe they both got a little trigger happy.

Where I really harp on Best Buy is continuing to make silly mistakes like individual stores tweeting on when the phone will be out, all the while Verizon themselves is stating that nothing is official, and that when there's an official date THEY will tell us. Yes, I think Verizon screwed up, but Best Buy screwed up as well. Both parties are guilty.

And don't get me started on Best Buy employees telling people Verizon won't be selling the phone. There's a reason I don't shop at Best Buy often, and dishonest sales reps is one of them. Yes, they all do it, but still. :p
