Verizon iPhone? I know, I know ...but ...?

If the iPhone had been available for Verizon in December, I would have bought it, no question. In fact, that was the plan, until I realized that almost all of my kids' friends are Verizon, and switching would have killed their friends' texting plans.

So, we needed to stay Verizon, my kids and my wife each needed a new phone, and I wanted a new phone, so I went with the Eris. I love it; at this point, I'm a convert, and I'd prefer to stay Android for my next phone, but I would look at an iPhone next summer - no question about it. We run nothing but Macs, I do use Mobile Me - it'd work for me.

I imagine if their had been an iPhone available on Verizon now, I probably would have one. But the fact that it could be months away and my NE2 is at the end of April, I'm leaning towards Android.

Hopefully by then we'll see the N1 and the HTC Incredible. With those two and the Droid, I'll have some solid options and won't be like everyone else waiting on an iPhone.

I must be in the minority here. I think the iPhone sucks. It's a dumbed down smartphone that's not very pleasing to use. The UI is crap and ugly to boot, the mail app is crippled crap, the notifications are crap, and the sound quality in a phone call is crap. So, bring it to Verizon. Hell, put it on T-Mobile and Sprint too. I'd be more interested in buying a Windows Series 7 Mobile whatever the hell it's called than any flavor of iPhone.

I agree with Corey. Sure the iPhone has the track record and great app television ad's but as a friend of mine said who got the iPhone over a year ago said, "I had no idea how much I would NOT use some features" and he admitted even the Eris had him tickled.

I mean, we've all seen the iPhone. It's the iPhone. Like happygilmore said and I TOTALLY agree - that HTC Incredible looks awesome.

I am doing nothing until next fall - yes, fall of 2011. I was burned once by buying a phone off eBay with no insurance and am now on a Blackberry Tour which will suffice. I can't imagine what will be available fall of 2011. Maybe a $0.75 HTC Droid Eris? I'll take it!!
