Verizon LG G2 - Compass doesn't seem to work

I love my G2, the only real problem I am having is that the compass doesn't seem to work. I have Holo Compass installed, and it won't find North. Also, when I am using Google Maps to follow where I am, it won't properly show which direction I am heading. Is there a setting or calibration that I am missing?

Are you using the quickview case? Sometimes exposure to any magnet can lock the compass. Just briefly touch a magnet to the upper right corner of the device to unstick it. I use GPS status & toolbox from the playstore. It has some calibration tools and works well.

I'm only using basic case, no magnets. I will give that app a try and see what happens. Thanks.
