Verizon LG G2 - Gmail 4.6 update crashing swipe to unlock

A week ago I sideloaded the 4.6 Gmail upgrade then after that every time I swiped to unlock, my phone restarted. Went to Verizon they gave me a new one. The new one didn't have 4.6 and I was waiting for the official update this time. Well I got the up date last night to 4.6 and am now getting the restart issue again.

Anyone else experience this with the update? I tried reinstalling 4.5 but it won't let me. I'm not rooted and don't want to.

Love the phone but this sucks.

I got the gmail update yesterday. I have not had any problems with it. No restarts, app crashes or any other problems. I suspect you have some other app that is conflicting with the new version of gmail, but it may be painful to determine where the problem is.

I had the same issue and just saw your post and I am testing this as the cause by reverting back to the older version of gmail. To do that, what I did was to go into application manager in settings, found gmail and selected uninstall updates which puts it back to the factory version (4.5)

Well I had 4 restarts today. Went to Verizon and they are going to call the LG rep to find out if it's a known issue. I'm not holding my breath. I have went back to gmail 4.5 so I'll see how that goes.

Had the exact same issue that started with the most recent update of Gmail. I use the pin unlock screen because of enterprise policies, and same thing, once entering the pin, would do a pseudo reset through the verizon screen. Doing the above, going into settings > applications manager > gmail > uninstall updates, does seem to have worked, but now I am stuck with having to hit the drop down to delete an email, as the most recent update came with the trash can shortcut button. Hopefully all will be fixed when the next update comes in. Anyone been able to pinpoint what the other app(s) is that may not be playing nicely with the newest gmail?

Gmail 4.6 recently auto-updated back on the phone, and it has no issue now. So it seems that uninstalling the 4.6 update, and then re-updating gmail fixes it for me.

I noticed the update as well.

The only difference I had before was that I had the lock screen widgets for Gmail for two different email accounts set up before. I have reconfigured those and I'm waiting to see if the issue comes back again.

Having the exact same issue here. I did have GMail 4.6 installed as well - just reverted to the factory default GMail version; seeing if that fixes the problem. Has been the only problem with an otherwise excellent phone.

It's a known issue with the gmail widgets. If you use the gmail lock screen widgets, you'll get a reset every time you unlock. Unfortunately you'll have to remove the gmail widgets until they fix this.

I finally updated myself to the newest version of Gmail, and I'm still not having any reboot issues. It only seems to come up with the lock screen widget. Wish it wasn't a problem, as I loved having the ability to see who the messages were from before unlocking. Oh, well.

I have been having this issue for a little over a week now. It's been so frustrating. So thankful I found this forum. Uninstalled Gmail updates and, so far so good. I'll update in a week to let everyone know if this is a definite fix. Thanks, guys!
