Verizon lg g7 locked to verizon

Not sure if this is the right section, but im trying to activate an lg g7 i bought on ebay with total wireless. Customer service is telling me its locked to verizon so it wont work, i need to contact verizon and have them unlock it. From what i see online, i need account info, which i don't have since it wasn't my phone and ive never had a verizon account. I also see online that 4g lte devices aren't carrier locked, and also that verizon unlocks them automatically after 60 days. I have bought used verizon devices in the past and activated them with total wireless successfully, not sure why its a problem all of a sudden. Now im stuck without a phone because even my old one wont work. Anyone have any ideas what i can do? I need to get this working asap and with my current number, so i cant just go buy a prepaid burner phone with a new number. Thanks in advance.

Or go into a Verizon company store and ask for assistance.

I would go back to the seller and try to return it. Especially if it was advertised as unlocked for use with any carrier. Or even if it was not specifically mentioned that the phone was carrier locked to Verizon.

This seems strange. Verizon for years did not lock their phones. They only recently started locking their phones but the lock is removed after six months. Did customer service say the phone is locked by Verizon or Black listed by Verizon? If the phone was stolen or never paid off the phone will be put on a black list and that is almost impossible to remove. If that is the case you need to get a refund from the seller. Fastest way to find out is to take it to a Verizon store.

Was the G7 ever offered as a Verizon prepaid? A prepaid phone is locked to Verizon until a certain time limit of activation, it's either 6 months or 1 year. If the phone wasn't used for 6 months it would still be locked after all this time.

Just a theory for what might be happening.
