how does this work? can it be applied to the order of the Turbo? i thought i read it is a vzw gift card. can the gift card only be used at VZW?

Nope, comes in the mail weeks after you buy the Turbo and trade in a working smart phone. They will send you an email with the code for trade in after purchase on contract or edge.

It's a VZW gift card, can only be used for VZW service or product.

i don't get it, what is the code for? could you get a $100 credit after the fact?

Code is for the trade in value to get boosted to $100.00. Then you trade in the phone and then they send you a gift card

Basically it all happens separately and you can't do the trade in until after you purchase the phone. You pay regular price up front then get the code by email, then do the trade and then get the gift card. Even the upgrade or activation fee is charged up front and then you get reimbursed for it on a later bill.

but my question is can the "gift card" be used to get $100 off the phone via credit? or do you have to use it for a future purchase?

I brought my old sprint epic 4g to the store, got a 100 credit applied to my bill when I picked up my turbo.

I could be wrong, but I believe all these offers like the rebate and the screen replacement are only good with a two year contract, not if you pay full retail.

+1. This is what I was told this morning when ordering my Turbo.

Screen replacement is for both upgrade and out of contract purchase.

Nope. Gift card can be used toward accessories or paying your wireless bill. Can't be used ala Best Buy to reduce the price of the phone at the time of purchase.

Does this whole - buy phone, get email, THEN trade in phone thing work the same if you are doing the purchase in store rather than online? I can't just take my old phone in with me and handle it all at once?

Nope. Will only happen after you buy the Turbo via email, coupon code, $100 sent in the mail.

think a blackberry 8330 curve will work for the tradein?

Yep. Just got off the phone with my pal at the local store. Any smartphone in working condition without a cracked screen will get you at least $100 on the gift card. Carrier doesn't matter. He said I can trade an old tmobile 7290 blackberry and still get $100. Other newer, better phones may get more.

It's a strategy to get everyone off 3G/CDMA and get people into a new VoLTE Advanced Calling 1.0 device as soon as possible.

Do you have to buy the TURBO on an EDGE agreement or can you also do a 2 Year contract at the subsidized price?

Edge is not required. I got mine today on a new 2 year contract with the $100 trade in "rebate" applied directly to the $250 price of the phone on the spot.

This is working for many people at corporate stores. Give it a try.

Sent Turbo fast from my 64GB Droid Turbo

BTW, I was told that anyone looking to do "Early Edge" (join Edge before your 2-year contract is up) would have to turn in their current phone, and that that phone would NOT qualify for the $100 rebate. In other words, to do Early Edge and get the $100 rebate you'd have to turn in TWO different phones. Has anyone successfully done otherwise?

Received my $100 rebate this morning in the store for my old HTC Thunderbolt that was collecting dust. Wish I could have also used the old dusty Blackberry Storm as well for additional rebate.
