but using the moto app just pulls up the google search, so it seems like it would be faster to have moto voice disabled and just use google as long as the standard google search will work with screen off like it did on the droid maxx

You can def do that. You'll just miss out on some of the exclusive Moto Voice commands.

guess im only one having issue getting just the ok google to work with moto voice not active
